The Lutheran Council in the USA (LCUSA) was a cooperative agency of four Lutheran church bodies: the American Lutheran Church; the Lutheran Church in America; the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod; and the Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Churches. LCUSA existed until 1988. The News Bureau which created the press releases was part of the Division of Public Relations from 1967-73 when it became part of the Office of Communication and Interpretation.
