James H. Doolittle collection, 1900-1974.

The majority of this collection consists of photographs of the life of James H. Doolittle from an early age through his military service. There are photograph albums that include early pictures of the Doolittle family, of Doolittle in the military, of Doolittle Raider Reunions, of Gen. Doolittle on various trips and at hunting, fishing and dinner parties. There are also framed portraits of aviation pioneers as well as major military figures and other personalities. Included within the collection are some signed prints by English artist, Frank E. Beresford who was awarded an "Exceptional Service Award" by the United States Air Force for his oil painting depicting an American Thanksgiving Day service in Westminster Abbey. That oil, along with some of his other paintings, are now on permanent display at the Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

James Harold "Jimmy" Doolittle (December 14, 1896 – September 27, 1993) was an American military general and aviation pioneer who received the Medal of Honor for his daring raids on Japan during World War II.
