Prange, MacDowell WWII letters

Private Warren B. Prange and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank MacDowell, corresponded throughout the private's time in the war. Pvt. Prange was a Radio Communications Specialist with Company B, 61st Signal Battalion. He also had a brother, Elmer, stationed in Europe during WWII. In 1944, Pvt. Prange was stationed at Camp Gordon in Augusta, GA. In early 1945, he was moved and stationed in the countryside of England. By March, 1945 he was stationed in France and by summer 1945 he was writing from Germany. The last correspondence from 1946 places the Pvt. back on American soil in Louisiana. These correspondences include every day subjects and goings-on, gifts, salutations to other family members and how "he is doing" are discussed with his "Gram & Gramp." He is an avid Buffalo Bisons fan and discusses the greatness of the members of the 1936 Bisons team. Also mentioned are the newsreels from back home that must speak to the weather in Buffalo and other cities and he compares American weather to European weather frequently.
