George Cheney papers, 1905-1970.

Papers of George W. Cheney, of Manchester, Connecticut. Cheney was a member of Manchester's prestigious manufacturing family, and the collection contains newspaper clippings about family members, Cheney Bros. stockholder information, and other family related material. Housekeeping account books, circa 1905-1908 and 1947-1950, may also be found in the collection. The two largest components of the collection are Cheney's correspondence, both personal and professional, from 1957 to 1961, and items pertaining to Cheney's service with Troop B Connecticut Cavalry of National Guard. The correspondence is from Cheney's tenure as Vice President and Secretary of Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance Company. Includes a photograph of Cheney in uniform.
