Martin Grayson papers concerning the Amalgamated Lithographers of America, 1886-1974.

The collection documents Martin Grayson's activities as an officer of the Amalgamated Lithographers of America between 1947 and 1957. They include correspondence, minutes of International Council and other meetings, reports, journals, memorandum, speeches, photographs, clippings, articles, union and graphic arts pamphlets, hardcover/paperback books on lithography, training materials and convention books. Research materials concerning the history of the Amalgamated Lithographers of America (ALA) are included with particular emphasis on the conflict over jurisdiction of offset workers between the ALA and the International Printing Pressmen and Assistants' Union during 1886 and 1965. The collection also contains the following trade publications: The American Photo Engraver, ALA - Lithographers' Journal, The Textile Worker, Printing Impressions, Media-Scope, Advertising Age. Also included are records about the State College Masonic Lodge No. 700 plans to remodel its lodge room, with research files about Solomon's Temple.

Martin Grayson began his career in the graphic arts industry as a pressman in New York City printing shops. He was elected International Secretary-Treasurer of the Amalgamated Lithographers of America in December 1947 and later served as the International Vice President for the Mountain Region.
