Autograph letter signed with initials : Dublin to Joan Severn, [1893 Dec.].

Discussing bird seed; telling of the rebuilding of their estate at Harristown; describing Dublin as the "worst kept town civilisation possesses & its Home Rule Corporation is perfectly indifferent about mud ruts & there are no crossing sweepers--no human eye can read the names of the streets--the lamps are about as bright as ordinary night-lights--the house-holders never think of cleaning their windows--but the air is clean, one never endures suffocation nor do blacks rain upon one's nose--if there is a fog it is a clean white one from the sea--& the surroundings of the town are lovely and can be got at from anywhere in a few minutes, there are plenty of tram-cars, not badly managed & the sea and hills are very near;" wishing her a very Happy Christmas & New Year.
