Manuscript copy, in near contemporary hand, titled "Copy of letters that passed between Prince George of Denmark and Sir George Rooke respecting Captain Wishart not being promoted to the rank of an Admiral in preference to Captain Whetstone." The document contains three copied letters: a 24 January 1703 letter from George Rooke to Prince George expressing his disagreement with the promotion of Whetstone in preference of Wishart and threatening to resign over the matter; a 26 January 1703 reply from Prince George to Rooke explaining the basis for his decision; and a undated response from Rooke to Prince George again threatening resignation. The document also contains a note by the copyist explaining that Captain Wishart received the commission of Rear Admiral on 5 February 1703 as Rooke had requested.
