Millard Fillmore letter to David E. Evans, 1837 September 22.

Consists of one ALS dated 22 September 1837, Washington, from Millard Fillmore to David E. Evans of Batavia, New York. The letter reports that Fillmore paid up Evans' accounts with the Intelligencer and the Globe and stopped his subscriptions with both newspapers.

Millard Fillmore was born in Cayuga County, N.Y. and later became a resident of East Aurora and Buffalo. He was a lawyer, local office holder, State Assemblyman, U.S. Congressman, N.Y. State Comptroller, Vice-President under Zachary Taylor and 13th U.S. President, 1850-1853. He was also involved in establishing numerous Buffalo institutions.
