Chiefly documents written, transcribed, or collected by Pauline Evans (1888-1960) and her husband, Joseph Evans, proprietors of the Sacajawea Museum in Spalding, Idaho, from the 1930s through the early 1960s, relating to the Nez Perce Indians of the area; together with ca. 50 photos Mrs. Evans collected of the Nez Perce. Includes narratives of Nez Perce Indians recounting their personal and family histories and stories about items Mrs. Evans acquired for the museum. Narrators and authors include Ralph E. Armstrong, Tom Beall, James Frank, John R. Lott, Samuel Lott, Peo-Peo-Tah-Likt (Peopeo Tholekt), John Ramsay, Stephen Reuben, Susie White, and James H. Williams.
