A.E. Doyle Papers, 1916-1938. 1916-1938.

The Papers consist of correspondence, photographs, drawings and work orders for the remodel of the Arlington Club of Portland along with their general budget reports. The Papers also include the correspondence, including an inventory, of A.E. Doyle's personal architectural library, purchased by Reed College in 1992. There are also miscellaneous files: a touring map of Scotland, some architectural drawings by Doyle, as well as budget and correspondence about the Portland Press Club and the Rainier Club. Photographs of the Doyle architectural team at work in their studios from 1926 and 1938 are included, as well as a view of the A.E. Doyle and Associate's Library.

Albert Ernest Doyle (1877-1928) became one of the best-known Portland architects of his time, and his buildings still impress, from the Multnomah County Library to the U. S. National Bank Building. He was picked as the Reed architect for the first decade of building on campus, including the iconic Old Dorm Block, Eliot Hall, Prexy, and the Woodstock Houses.
