Recordings of a lecture held at the Canadian Centre for Architecture, Montréal, Apr. 1, 1999. Jim Taggert presents the Selkirk Waterfront complex in Victoria, B.C., which was developed on a former sawmill site. He discusses how the remnants of the mill were incorporated, the designers' ideas and inspiration, why it works, and what is to come. The event was organized in collaboration with Heritage Montréal, and was the sixth and last in a series of lectures entitled Metamorphoses, presented as a compliment to the exhibition "La photographie et les transformations de la ville contemporaine: Venise-Marghera" = "Photography and transformations of the contemporary city: Venezia-Marghera", held at the CCA Dec. 9, 1998-Apr. 25, 1999. Includes introductory and closing remarks by Nancy Dunton.
