The celebration of the 150th anniversary of the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in the Dartmouth College Case was held on April 9, 1969, in the Court of Claims, Washington, D.C.; the celebration also commemorated the career of Daniel Webster, the advocate who defended the case before the Supreme Court. Revolutionary War officer, 1776-1781. Originally of Hanover, N.H., Clapp served as a lieutenant in Bedel's New Hampshire Regiment, July-Nov., 1776; and in the 1st New Hampshire Regiment as a 2d lieutenant, 1776-1778, 1st lieutenant, 1778-1780, and captain, 1780-1781.
