Revolutionary War officer, 1776-1781. Originally of Hanover, N.H., Clapp served as a lieutenant in Bedel's New Hampshire Regiment, July-Nov., 1776; and in the 1st New Hampshire Regiment as a 2d lieutenant, 1776-1778, 1st lieutenant, 1778-1780, and captain, 1780-1781.
