Millia Davenport (1895-1992) was a noted costume scholar and designer. Her career included designing costumes for productions at the Provincetown Playhouse, for the Civic Repertory Theatre, and the Mercury Theatre. She also worked with Jo Mielziner and Maxwell Anderson on Broadway. Davenport's The book of costume (Crown Publishers, 1948) is considered a groundbreaking work in the field.
