The Moon Landrieu Collection, 1966-78, bulk 1970-1978.

The papers of Moon Landrieu deal with the administration of New Orleans, LA and facets of state and national activities. The records were to a large extent arranged alphabetically prior to their arrival at the Library Archives and Research Center, and have been maintained in that state. For the convenience of the researcher, however, the papers of the Landrieu Collection have been subdivided into eight different series according to record type. The first series deals with correspondence and is broken into fourteen sub-series ranging from personal correspondence through transportation. These sub-series are arranged alphabetically by subject caption and then chronologically. The second series is a chronological arrangement of general correspondence. The third series is made up of financial correspondence. The fourth contains legal documents. Series five contains financial records. The sixth series is made up of various public speeches and remarks. The seventh series addresses evaluations, goals, plans, projects, reports, and studies. The eighth series contains bulletins, minutes, newsletters, newsreleases, and proceedings. The arrangement of series three to eight is alphabetical by subject caption, then chronological.

Moon Landrieu, former mayor of New Orleans, Louisiana was born July 23, 1930, in Orleans Parish, Louisiana, the son of Joseph and Loretta (Bechtel) Landrieu. Moon Landrieu received a BBA from Loyola University in 1952 and his LLB from Loyola University in 1954. He enteres the United States Army as a lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General's Corps; 1954-57; he worked as a lawyer with the firm Landrieu, Calogero and Kronlage, 1957-1960; as a representative from the 12th Ward of New Orleans, 1960-...
