The records cover the period from just after Jesse Jackson's failed attempt at the Democratic Presidential nomination in 1984 to just after his second failed attempt in 1988. The records provide some insight into the issues dealt with by the American left in the late 1980s. Included are many of the San Francisco Rainbow Coalition's newsletters from this period (box 2), and numerous flyers about San Francisco and Bay Area issues and events. There are also some organizational notes. There are three cassette tapes, including a speech by Jesse Jackson (box 3).
