Research materials on John Hawkes, 1959-1994.

Correspondence and works of John Hawkes, friend, English professor at Brown University, and novelist. Collection includes photocopies of over 200 letters written by Hawkes to Guérard from 1959-1994 and original letters written by Hawkes' wife, Sophie, primarily to Guérard's wife Maclin. Also contains proofs of two of Hawkes' books, ADVENTURES IN THE ALASKAN SKIN TRADE and TRAVESTY and rare Hawkes periodical publications. In addition, the collection contains 15 cassette tapes, dating from 1972 on, of John Hawkes speaking at Stanford.
