An eight-page letter from Charmian London to "Aunt Judith and Uncle Charlie" [Kittredge], 24 Nov. 1907, with an enclosure of Jack's navigation form for charting by the chronometer method. They were into their seventh week after sailing from Hawaii. Also included is an enlarged print from the original negative of Jack's face taken by Charmian, probably from a print she writes of enclosing in the letter.

Charles Baker Kittredge (1806-1884) attended Dartmouth College and was graduated from the Andover Theological Seminary in 1832. He was ordained to the Prebyterian ministry in 1833 and served as the pastor to the churches in Groton, Monson, and Westborough, Mass. He was also an assistant minister in the church in Worcester, Mass., from 1853 to 1856. Kittredge married Sarah Brigham (1815-1871) of Grafton, Mass., and they had eight children. Charmian Kittredge was born in Southern California and educated at home, developing excellent secretarial skills. A free spirit and devoted traveller, she married Jack London in 1905. The two shared an adventurous life of travel until London's death in 1916. Charmian wrote fiction, travel books, and biography, including the two-volume Book of Jack London.
