Notes d'un parisien : manuscript, ca. 1877?

Consists of manuscript text on leaves numbered in blue pencil 1-17bis. Written on the first leaf, in a different hand and different ink, is: à composer en 9 [i.e. to be set up in 9 point type]. From this, the donor, whose letter presenting the work is laid in, deduces that these notes come from the composing room of Le Figaro, where Goncourt had planned to publish them. They appear, he says, in very much the same wording, in v. 5-6 of Le journal des Goncourt, in entries dated between 19 Feb. 1877 and 18 Dec. 1879. Alidor Delzant, in Les Goncourt, p. 363, notes a work of the same title which appeared in Vie moderne 12 June 1881.
