Leslie Berlin received her Ph.D. in History from Stanford in 2001. She is currently (2005) a visiting scholar in the Program in the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology. Robert Noyce was a Silicon Valley pioneer who participated in the invention of the microchip. He was part of the first successful semiconductor corporation, Fairchild Semiconductor, and went on to be one of the founders of Intel.
