Alan S. Gaynor papers, 1925-1976.

This collection consists of Alan S. Gaynor's birth certificate, report cards, school assignments, letters, clippings, photographs, a memorial resolution, a scrapbook, and a certificate appointing Gaynor as Representative to the 88th district in Georgia. Autographed photographs in the collection include several leading figures in Georgia and national politics including Jimmy Carter, George Busbee, Tom Murphy, George L. Smith, and George T. Smith. Collection materials date from 1925 to 1976.

Alan Sims Gaynor was born Alan Sims Guckenheimer on 11 October 1928 in Savannah, Georgia, to Dora Gittlesohn and Sims Guckenheimer. Both of his parents were native Georgians and they resided at 811 Whitaker Street at the time of Alan's birth.
