Virgil E. Durden World War I Navy photographic postcards, around 1918.

Collection consists of twenty-six photographic postcards taken by Durden while he served aboard the U.S.S. Arizona, probably around 1918; two postcards have duplicates. The photographs primarily illustrate the daily life aboard the ship, although there are also images of convoys, and the ship's entry into Brest, France. There are various views of the ship, from the ship, and of navy men at work, rest, and play. A number of the postcards have descriptions written on their backs of the activities depicted, written for those unfamiliar with Navy life. Includes images of the battleships Florida and George Washington as part of convoys. Arranged loosely by subject.
