Included in the collection are biographic information on Hatch and two pamphlets containing church histories.

Born in Massachusetts, 1789, Hatch was ordained a priest in the Protestant Episcopal Church in 1811. He served a succession of parishes including, 1820 - 1830, both Grace Church at Crismont, Virginia and Christ Church in Charlottesville, Virginia where Thomas Jefferson was a member.
