This collection contains correspondence, memoranda, proposals, reports, and other records related to the duties and responsiblities of the University's Office of the Vice President for Research in the Gardner and Peterson administrations. Most important of these was administration of the many lucrative research and training contracts and grants awarded annually to the University (even in the 1970s valued in excess of $50,000,000 per year) and diligent maintenance of the close liaison between the University and all the state, federal, and private agencies supporting research and training projects.
