Chile notes, field notes and diary about the Indians of Chile, 1929-1930.

Two volumes of bound field notes, a diary, and one volume of associated papers, describing a trip to Chile for the Museum of the American Indian. The field notes are illustrated with archeological and anthropological information from the trip. Items such as looms, pottery, drums, grave sites, coffins, and baskets are described and illustrated. A list of specimens is included at the back of each notes volume. Archeological sites include Taltal, Paposa, Chanaral, Compania Baja (on the land of Luis Schiapacasse), Purita de Teatinos, Maquehua, Paicabi, Fundo Cuquimo, Cachagua, La Ligua, Quilpue, and others. A list of museum items that relate to Chilean Indians is also included for the British Museum, Museo Ethnografico of Buenos Aires, Museo Historico Nacional (Santiago), Musée de la Marine (Paris), Ethnographical Museum (Rotterdam), and the Musée d'Ethnographie (Paris). The diary includes descriptions of each day's actions as well as an expense sheet for the trip in the back.
