Connecticut Watercolor Society records, 1938-1947.

Records of the Connecticut Watercolor Society, a group that put on an annual exhibit at the Wadsworth Atheneum between 1938 and 1961. Later exhibits were in conjunction with the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts and were held at the New Britain Museum of American Art. The papers in the collection are largely those of the founder, Alexander Crane, and a member of the group's council, Helen Perkins. Crane was a college roommate of Wadsworth curator Chick Austin. The papers are largely arranged chronologically. One folder contains registration forms, possibly from 1942. Crane's papers comprise correspondence, receipts, and a variety of other materials related to the planning and mounting of the exhibitions.
