Alan M. Osur collection, 1940-1974.

This collection contains materials gathered by Alan Osur in support of the publication of his book, "Blacks in the Army Air Forces During World War II: The Problem of Race Relations." Included are files pertaining to the creation of facilities for black Army Air Corps personnel, documentation from the War Department regarding various problems faced during the implementation of integration, oral histories and interviews with persons that were instrumental in the process of integration within the USAAF during World War II. Other items within the collection are partial documents taken from unit histories, official reports of investigations reflecting various aspects of the successes and failures in the struggle to integrate the United States Army Air Force (USAAF), and bibliographic materials used in the writing of Dr. Osur's book.

Educator, author, coach, and software developer, Alan M. Osur received his Ph.D. from the University of Denver, Colorado. He was on active duty in the Air Force from 1963 - 1984.
