Donald Kent "Deke" Slayton collection, 1943-1945.

The entire collection consists of a handwritten journal dated from October 1943 when Slayton left the United States for the European Theater of Operations until September 1945 when he was contemplating remaining in the Air Force while awaiting return to the States at the end of World War II. The journal talks about his missions, impressions of the countries and islands where he was assigned and about his concepts of war and morality.
