This collection consists of personal and professional papers of Louisiana politician E. A. Burke. Included are handwritten and typed correspondence, telegraphs, certificates for Burke and others, invitations, calling cards, programs, financial documents and printed items. Correspondents include members of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, and Clara Barton of the American Association of the Red Cross. The oversized folder contains both truly official and faux-official (New Orleans Carnival) certificates.

Edward A. Burke was a politician and publisher of New Orleans, Louisiana. He was probably born in Ohio or Illinois ca. 1840. He may have served in the Union Army during the Civil War, but claimed to have been a Confederate major.
