Describes sea voyage; lands at the Isle of Wight, where he gives a description of some of its historical spots; lands at Southampton, where he leaves his family and journeys to London on business; gives some impressions of the English; lands at Havre; stops at Rouen, the cathedral of which he describes at length; takes an apartment at Paris, and places the girls in school. Postscript dated August 26, 1826, wherein Cooper states that his wife and Caroline have been very ill; will send soon a description of Paris which she may hand to Prentiss.
