John Skinner papers [manuscript], 1847-1848.

Collection contains appeals, complaints, notes and correspondence in the case of the Reverend John Skinner, put on trial by Presbytery of Lexington on the charge of libel and defamation against the President and professors of Washington College. Skinner published a pamphlet (not present) which made accusations of unsound doctrine, approval of dancing, spying through keyholes, and communing with Episcopalians, among other charges. Those accused included J.T.L. Preston and William Calhoun.
