A copy of the charter granted by the Connecticut General Assembly to the Naugatuck Railroad with two amendments in 1847 and 1848. The charter is in a school copy book that belonged to Philo Sanford in 1848. The cover of the booklet has the American eagle. On the verso are printed images of a steam ship, a printing press, a globe with books and maps, a plow, and a sheep. Also includes separate reports from the Railroad Commissioners on their examination of the rail line, with recommended repairs to be made.
