Samuel Whiting papers, 1848-1854.

Primarily letters to Samuel Whiting, Jr. of West Hartford, Connecticut, most of which were sent to him while he was a student at Williams College. He received letters from his sister Mary Cornelia, his brother George Whiting, Whiting cousins from Litchfield, Connecticut, and from friends H.S. Rising, John and Joseph Whitman, J.S. Flagg and W.H. Sellew. Also includes bills and receipts, 1849-1854, primarily for supplies needed while at college, a tuition bill, and a record of his attendance at Religious and Literary Exercises at the College that was sent to his father Samuel. It is not certain which Samuel, son or father, actually received and paid the bills.
