T.D. Judah papers, 1840-1847.

A copybook of verse written by T. D. Judah of Connecticut. Some of it was published in The Hartford Times. Judah was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and studied at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. After jobs in Connecticut and elsewhere in the East, including with the New Haven, Hartford & Springfield Railroad, Judah worked on railroads out in California.

Engineer and railroad builder. Theodore Dehone Judah was born Mar. 4, 1862 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He attended the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, then began his career in railroads. Initially located in the East, in 1854 he moved to California as chief engineer of the Sacramento Valley Railroad, and in 1859 became involved in the construction of the California Eastern Extension Railroad in Placer County, California.
