Collection contains a typescript genealogy produced by John Arthur Loring called Ancestral records of the Loring family of Massachusetts Bay (1906). The genealogy has 812 numbered leaves followed by material on the Alden family, printing instructions, and addenda. This material is followed by House and history of Joshua Loring on the Loring-Greenough House; Three original documents (receipt dated 19 November 1776 by Caleb Loring of Hingham, promissory note signed by James Loring and Samuel Loring as selectmen of Hull to the town treasuer dated 8 December 1760, and receipt by Joshua Loring of Boston for Nathaniel Greenough dated 17 January 1777 ); Correspondence (and some poetry) by Laura E. Richards of Gardiner, Maine to Katherine P. Loring, 1931-1934; Genealogical correspondence to Katherine Peabody Loring 1917-1938; and a copy of Loring Genealogy (1917) by Charles Henry Pope and Katharine Peabody Loring with annotations, newspaper clippins, letters and photographs added; and card file of additions and correction for new Loring genelaogy.
