Wishing him a Happy Christmas; saying how happy he is with the news of Mr. Wollaston and Constance; saying he is "panic struck" at the "smooth road to the water;" asking that he do "nothing whatever" at Brantwood until he comes because "half my pleasure would be gone if I had not that all to do myself. And let no trees be cut--nothing touched that will stand, in walls; no weeds pulled up--except in this carriage drive and on the lawn."
