David Wood operated a freighting and forwarding business on an extension of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad in mining areas of Colorado. He was active in the mining industry, shipping machinery, ore, bullion, coke, supplies, and personal belongings to and from the mines in the 1880s. He was also a hay, grain, and flour dealer.
