History of medical school of Cambridge, ca. 1811.

A sixteen-page handwritten draft of a history of the Harvard Medical School written in a paper notebook and attributed to Dr. John Warren, the School's first Professor of Anatomy. The history chronicles the establishment of the Medical School from the early 1780s to 1811, and describes the expansion of the School from Cambridge to Boston in late 1810. The document ends with a description of the examination process for receiving the degree of Doctor in Medicine.

Warren (Harvard, Hon. M.D. 1786) attended Harvard College (A.B. 1771) and studied medicine with his brother Joseph and with Edward Augustus Holyoke in Salem, Mass.
