ArchivalResource

Trescott and Faxon family papers, 1853-1917.

The primary focus of the collection is Jonathan C. Trescott's service in the Civil War with the 3rd New Jersey Infantry Regiment, his discharge, and his wife Lucy's attempt to obtain his pension after his death in 1878. The pension applications were consistently mailed from Waterbury, Connecticut. The Faxon family papers consist of a circular letter sent to Charles Faxon of West Hartford, Connecticut, from the Bank of Hartford County, and the rest are letters from son Henry who lived in New York City before enlisting in the 1st New York Engineer Regiment in 1861. The collection also contains two unidentified plot plans, two letters either from or to Carrie (last name unknown), and a memo book.
