Benjamin Huntington papers, 1761-1864.

Papers of Benjamin Huntington of Norwich, Connecticut. Primarily contains letters between Huntington and his wife, Anne, while he was in Hartford, New York, and Philadelphia as a member of the Connecticut General Assembly, the Continental Congress, and the United States Congress. Benjamin's letters depicted the workings of the legislative bodies and the political and military activities of the times. Anne wrote of the hardships endured by women left to care for their children alone, while their husbands served the country without pay. Other topics include health, the weather, living conditions, and news of friends and relatives. Additional items include letters to Huntington and his family from his children, his accounts with the State of Connecticut, a list of United States exports, and family mementos.
