Georgia Tech Athletic Hall of Fame records, 1955-1964.

This collection consists of three Athletic Hall of Fame certificates for football, two from 1955 and one from 1964. The certificates from 1955, awarded to Clint Castleberry and Doug Wycoff, indicate their election and initiation into the Football Hall of Fame; the 1964 certificate, awarded to General Leonard Wood, indicates election and initiation into the Athletic Hall of Fame for football. Each of the certificates is signed by Bobby Dodd as well as the chairman of the selection committee, who in 1964 was George C. Griffin.

The Georgia Institute of Technology, commonly referred to as Georgia Tech or Tech, was founded on October 13, 1885 as the Georgia School of Technology. The creation of the educational institution was part of the plans of Georgia leadership to reconstruct and revitalize the state's economy following the Civil War.
