John Fitterer, SJ was appointed 16th President of Seattle University on April 8, 1965 and inaugurated on October 11, 1965. The initial Articles of Incorporation, dated October 17, 1898 bear the signature of Jesuit priest Adrian Sweere, SJ, a founder of Seattle College.
