Seattle University Oral History Recordings, 2003 June-December.

A collection of interviews with prominent women associated with Seattle University as part of an oral history titled "Celebrating 70 Years of Women at Seattle University, 1933-2003." The interviews were recorded June 12-December 19, 2003 by Janet Bishop. The twenty-one participants include alumnae from the class of 1937 to the class of 2003, three deans, two librarians, a vice president, an associate provost, a registrar, an alumna daughter of a current faculty member, a faculty wife, and eight professors. A notable Seattle University alumna is Peggy Joan Maxie, the first African-American woman elected to the Washington State Legislature. The initial Articles of Incorporation, dated October 17, 1898 bear the signature of Jesuit priest Adrian Sweere, SJ, a founder of Seattle College.
