Portrait photograph of Francis Wilson, an Arena, Wisconsin soldier who served in Company C and Company E, 12th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. The image shows Wilson wearing an officer frock coat, sash, saber belt, and sword. Wilson was commissioned as 1st lieutenant in Company C in 1861 and was promoted to captain in Company E the next year. He mustered out of service when his term expired in 1865. Wilson worked as a farmer prior to the war.
