General, U.S. Army, awarded medal of honor. Letter, 20 Aug. 1840 to J.W. Judson telling of his experiences in camp, and his feelings for certain officers; letter, 16 May 1841 to J.W. Judson, Oswego, N.Y., describing uniform changes, mentioning of drunkenness of fellow cadets, expressing his belief that Captain C.F. Smith, commandant of cadets is not such a rigid disciplinarian as his predecessor and the corps' dislike of Major Delafield.
