From a small beginning in May 1932, the Methodist Crusaders Choir, then with 75 choristers, was hurriedly formed and made its first public appearance at the General Conference Meetings of the Methodist Church of Australasia. It is primarily a hymn-singing choir, and the devoted members feel that the main purpose in their coming together is to spread the gospel message of the Church by means of song. Arthur John Prideaux, Portland Public School principal was born in 1879 in Multnomah County and died in 1977 in Milwaukie, Oregon. He was a graduate of Pacific University. Before becoming a teacher he worked at the Portland Coffee and Spice Company as a clerk. He taught at South Mount Tabor School and was a principal for 34 years at Woodstock School.
