Harry Lane, a colorful figure in Oregon politics, was the grandson of General Joseph Lane, a pioneer politician and territorial governor. Harry Lane was born in Corvallis, Oregon, in 1855. He graduated from Willamette University in 1876 and took a medical degree there in 1878.
