Collection (04-079) consists of approx. 160 print advertisements. The majority of the items advertise cigarettes, and most were removed from issues of THE STATE, a North Carolina publication. Many of the ads are for Chesterfield or Camel cigarettes and feature testimonial endorsements by radio, television, and movie stars, athletes, and other celebrities. Collection also includes several corporate ads for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Additional advertisements, many for North Carolina companies, appear on the reverse side of the cigarette ads. Most of the ads are two-color, a few are printed in full color.
