One of the first people hired at GALCIT Project #1 in November 1941 was photographer George Emmerson (1913-1994), an emigrant from Newcastle, Great Britain. Audrey Voice and Mary J. John Leonard Swigert Jr., Jack Swigert, (August 30, 1931 – December 27, 1982) was an American test pilot, mechanical, aerospace engineer, United States Air Force pilot, NASA astronaut, and politician. In April 1970, as command module pilot of Apollo 13, he became one of twenty-four astronauts who flew to the Moon.
