Letter from Benjamin Waterhouse to Eliphalet Pearson, April 10, 1805.

Two leaves containing a three-page handwritten letter from Harvard Medical School Professor Benjamin Waterhouse to Harvard Professor (and Interim President) Eliphalet Pearson requesting the attendance fee be increased for Waterhouse's course of Natural History. In his justification, Waterhouse noted that he had expanded the number of lectures in the course and had spent money on related research materials. In a postscript, Waterhouse also requested a yearly sum for keeping the mineral cabinet with the justification that "Elias Richardson received 50 dollars for keeping the key of the arsenal, and black Peter 52 per annum for burning the chimnies & scraping up manure in the College yard."
