Not a Cornfield panel discussion [sound recording] / [sponsored by the Getty Research Institute].

During the summer of 2005 Bon transformed a 32-arce plot of land in Los Angeles, a former rail yard known as "The Cornfield," into an agricultural oasis and site-specific artwork. Bon turned the space into a living sculpture through the planting of a field of corn, intended to last for one agricultural cycle. The recording captures a panel discussion sought to situate Bon's project, Not a Cornfield, within an art historical context while at the same time exploring the complex and often controversial nature of large-scale, artist-driven public works. As Bon notes, Not a Cornfield "poses many questions about the nature of urban public space, about historical parks in a city so young and yet so diverse...and about the politics of land use and its incumbent inequities."
